The first step of the project was locating:
a) a local indigenous school that was celebrating its culture
b) a school that was in need of technical assistance
c) a school that was 'ready' to accept the new technology and use it in their teaching immediately.
Determining a suitable school was a time consuming task. Working closely with our partner ACEL (Australian Council for Educational Leaders), we quickly determined that there was no shortage of schools in need of assistance.
There was one school that really stood out - St Francis Xavier School, Daly River. This school successfully integrates its community's traditions and culture with 21st century learning styles. Technology was the one thing missing that could take the children's learning at school to the next level.
